From this page you can access video examples of some of the RIM approaches. These videos support our training work with teachers and families. They are designed to accompany our workshops for educators and families and to provide a snapshot of the RIM approaches.
1:1 Time (Preschool Child with Special Needs)
This video depicts a 1:1 time session with a preschool child with special needs. The video focuses on using language and non verbals to communicate that the adult is completely present with the child during the session. Watch for language strategies that communicate "I see you" to the child.
1:1 Time (Toddler)
This video depicts a 1:1 time session with a 2 1/2 year old. The video focuses on being attuned with the child's emotions and showing empathy through body language and facial expressions while maintaining an ongoing connection with the child. Watch how the child is able to persevere in a difficult task (building with Legos) without any direct prompting from the adult.

Watch for language strategies that communicate "I hear you" to the child. Listen for ways that the adult acknowledges both the child's works and their thought processes.
